Possible Causes
Handle or recline switch not engaged, Faulty brush/spray enable switch, Broken wiring in handle, Failed control board output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting switches.
- Check handle position: Many Shark carpet cleaners only activate brush and spray when the handle is reclined. Recline the handle fully and try again.
- Inspect mode switch: If there is a separate brush or spray button, press it firmly and check for indicator lights.
- Check for loose handle wiring: Open the handle housing (if serviceable) and inspect the wiring harness for breaks or loose connectors.
- Board output: If switches and wiring are intact, the main control board may not be sending power to the brush motor or pump and may need replacement.
