Shark
Excessive Solution Application
Carpet cleaner sprays too much water, leaving carpets overly wet and soggy
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Stuck-open solution valve, Incorrect solution setting, Cracked solution hose, User holding trigger continuously
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting internal hoses.
- Adjust usage: Use short trigger pulls instead of holding the trigger continuously. Make additional dry passes (without spraying) to extract more water.
- Check settings: If your Shark model has a solution level selector, set it to a lower setting or 'Light Clean'.
- Inspect solution valve: With the unit unplugged, locate the solution valve near the tank outlet. Ensure the valve linkage moves freely and returns to the closed position when the trigger is released.
- Check for leaks: Inspect solution hoses for cracks or loose fittings that might cause uncontrolled flow. Replace any damaged hose sections.
Over-wetting can damage some carpets; always follow the carpet manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.
