Carpet cleaner powers on but motor does not run, no suction or brush movement

Safety: Unplug the unit before opening any covers. Rotating parts can start unexpectedly if power is applied.

• Check for blockages first: Remove the dirty water tank and hose. Ensure there is no severe blockage that could cause the motor to stall and trip protection.
• Listen for relay click: Plug in the unit and switch it on (do not open the housing while powered). When you press the trigger or power button for cleaning mode, listen for a click from inside. No click may indicate a failed relay or control board.
• Inspect motor brushes (if accessible): Unplug the cleaner, remove the lower housing, and locate the suction motor. If it is a brushed motor, check the carbon brushes for wear (short length, uneven wear). Replace the motor brush set if worn down.
• Test motor windings: With the motor disconnected and the unit unplugged, measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
• Check the control board: If the motor tests good but does not receive voltage when the unit is commanded ON, the motor triac or relay on the control PCB may be defective. In most Siemens units, the board is replaced as a complete module rather than repaired at component level.
