Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the carpet cleaner before working near the brush area. Sharp bristles and edges may be present.
- Check for obstructions: Turn the unit over and inspect the brush roll. Remove hair, threads, and debris wrapped around the brushes and end caps.
- Inspect the drive belt: Remove the brush access cover. Check the belt that connects the brush motor to the brush roll. If the belt is broken, stretched, or melted, replace it with the correct Siemens belt.
- Test brush rotation by hand: With the belt removed, spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate freely. If it binds, clean the end bearings or replace the brush roll assembly.
- Check the brush motor: Access the brush motor and test its resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If the motor is good but does not receive voltage when brush mode is selected, the control relay or PCB may be faulty.
Replace the brush drive motor or belt as needed. If the control board is not energizing a good motor, professional diagnosis is recommended.
