Possible Causes

Depleted or failed lithium-ion battery pack, dirty battery contacts, overheated battery, defective DC-DC converter board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Power off the unit and remove the battery pack before inspection.

  • Charge battery fully: Place the battery on the correct Stihl charger until it reaches full charge. If the charger indicates a fault, the battery may be defective.
  • Clean contacts: Wipe the battery terminals and the mating contacts in the cleaner with a dry cloth. Remove any corrosion with isopropyl alcohol.
  • Cool down: If the battery is warm to the touch, allow it to cool to room temperature before reinserting.
  • Inspect DC board: If multiple batteries show E14, the internal DC-DC converter or battery interface board may be faulty and require replacement.

Do not open or attempt to repair the battery pack itself; replace with a genuine Stihl pack.
