Possible Causes
Stuck tilt sensor, faulty mercury-free tilt switch, damaged tilt sensor wiring, miscalibrated orientation sensor on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit.
- Return to upright: Ensure the carpet cleaner is on a level surface in its normal operating position. Some models will not run if tilted excessively.
- Power cycle: Unplug for 1–2 minutes, then plug back in while the unit is upright to reset the orientation logic.
- Inspect tilt sensor: Access the main housing and locate the tilt sensor (small cylindrical or rectangular component with two wires). Make sure it is firmly mounted and not jammed with debris.
- Check wiring: Verify the tilt sensor harness is intact and properly connected to the control board.
If E15 persists, the tilt sensor or control board may need replacement.
