Possible Causes
Dirty or bent accessory contacts, broken tool identification resistor, damaged accessory cable, failed tool detection circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Power off and unplug the unit.
- Clean contacts: Inspect the electrical contacts at the accessory port and on the wand or powered tool. Clean with a dry cloth and, if needed, a small amount of contact cleaner.
- Check for bent pins: Straighten any slightly bent pins carefully with needle-nose pliers. Do not force the tool into the port.
- Test with another tool: If available, connect a different Stihl accessory. If it works, the original tool may have a failed ID component and should be serviced or replaced.
- Inspect cable: For powered wands, check the cable along its length for cuts or kinks that could break internal conductors.
