Possible Causes

Scale buildup inside heater, partially blocked solution line, failed heater thermostat stuck closed

Safety: Unplug and allow the heater to cool completely before touching.

Descale system: Run a descaling solution approved for carpet cleaners through the solution system, following manufacturer dilution and rinse instructions.
Check flow rate: Ensure strong, steady spray from the nozzle. Weak flow with a very hot heater suggests restriction.
Inspect thermostat: A thermostat that does not open at the correct temperature can cause overheating. Replacement is recommended if overheating persists after descaling.
