Possible Causes

Broken or stretched drive belt, Hair and debris jamming brush bar, Worn brush bar bearings, Failed brush motor (if motorised)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the carpet cleaner before working underneath.

  • Remove bottom plate: Lay the machine down and remove the screws holding the bottom plate. Lift off to expose the brush bar and belt.
  • Inspect belt: Check if the belt is broken, melted, or loose. Replace with the correct Vax belt if damaged.
  • Clean brush bar: Remove the brush bar and cut away hair and fibres. Ensure the bar spins freely in its end caps; replace if stiff or worn.
  • Check brush motor (if fitted): If there is a separate brush motor, ensure its drive gear is intact and that the motor runs when powered (for trained persons). Replace the motor if faulty.
  • Reassemble: Refit the belt, brush bar, and bottom plate securely before use.
