F6 displayed, heater function not working on heated Vax carpet cleaner models

Safety first: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool completely before working on the heater. Heater circuits involve mains voltage and can be hazardous.

• Check heater switch: Ensure the heater function is actually switched on (if a separate switch is provided) and that the indicator light works.
• Access heater unit: Remove the side or rear cover to locate the inline heater block in the solution line.
• Test heater element: Disconnect the heater terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed element; replace the heater assembly.
• Check thermal fuse and thermostat: Many heaters have a thermal fuse and thermostat in series. Test each for continuity. Replace any open component with the correct rated part.
• Inspect PCB heater relay: Look for a heater relay on the PCB. If the relay is burnt or not switching (for trained persons to test), replace the PCB or relay module as designed.
