Possible Causes

Blown mains fuse in plug, Failed main power switch, Damaged power cord, Faulty main control PCB power input stage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Vileda carpet cleaner from the wall socket before any inspection. Never work on a live appliance.

  • Check wall outlet and plug fuse: Test the outlet with another device. Remove the plug fuse (if fitted in your region) and check/replace with the correct rating as printed on the plug.
  • Inspect power cord: Run your fingers along the cord to feel for cuts, kinks, or burn marks. If you see exposed copper or melted insulation, the cord must be replaced by a qualified technician.
  • Test the power switch: Access the handle or body switch by removing the outer housing screws (usually under the tank and handle trim). Use a multimeter in continuity mode across the switch terminals while toggling ON/OFF. Replace the switch if there is no continuity when ON.
  • Check the main control PCB: Visually inspect the control board for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or a blown track near the AC input. If damage is visible, the PCB should be replaced as a complete module rather than repaired at component level.

If you are not comfortable working with mains voltage components, contact a professional technician.
