Possible Causes
Clogged suction hose, Blocked intake at cleaning head, Full or blocked dirty water tank inlet, Clogged motor pre-filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before clearing any blockages.
- Check dirty water tank: Empty the tank and rinse the inlet screen. Ensure the tank lid seals properly and that the float is not stuck in the raised position.
- Inspect suction hose: Detach the hose from both the body and the cleaning head. Look through it against a light source. Use a flexible brush or straightened coat hanger (with smooth end) to gently push out clogs of hair or debris.
- Clean cleaning head intake: Turn the unit over and inspect the suction channel behind the brush. Remove threads, pet hair, and carpet fibers that may be blocking the opening.
- Clean motor pre-filter: Locate the foam or fabric filter in front of the suction motor (often behind a small access panel). Wash with mild soap and water, squeeze out excess, and let it dry completely before reinstalling.
- Allow cooling: If the motor overheated, let the machine cool for 30 minutes before testing again.
