Possible Causes

Broken brush drive belt, Jammed brush roll due to debris, Failed brush motor, Faulty brush motor driver on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the carpet cleaner and lay it on its side or back for access to the brush area.

  • Check for jams: Remove the brush guard and pull out the brush roll. Cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the bristles and end caps. Ensure the brush spins freely by hand.
  • Inspect drive belt: If your Vileda model uses a belt, check for snapping, stretching, or glazing. Replace the belt if it is loose or broken.
  • Test brush motor: With the brush roll removed, try to spin the motor shaft by hand. If seized, the motor must be replaced. Use a multimeter to check continuity across the motor terminals; an open circuit indicates failure.
  • Check wiring and PCB: Inspect the harness from the PCB to the brush motor for damage. If wiring is intact and the motor tests good, the brush motor driver on the PCB may be faulty, requiring PCB replacement.
