Possible Causes
Stuck solution diverter valve, Faulty mode selector switch, Broken valve actuator linkage, Misaligned internal cam
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the carpet cleaner and remove the solution tank.
- Operate mode selector manually: Turn the mode selector knob through all positions several times to free any stiffness. Do this with the unit off.
- Inspect diverter valve: Access the internal solution diverter valve (usually near the pump). Check that the valve rotates or slides smoothly when the mode selector is turned.
- Check linkage and cam: Ensure the plastic linkage between the knob and valve is not broken or stripped. Replace the linkage or valve assembly if damaged.
- Test mode switch: If your model uses an electrical mode switch, test it with a multimeter for continuity in each position. Replace if readings are inconsistent.
