Possible Causes
Open-circuit boiler NTC sensor, Shorted NTC sensor, Loose or oxidized NTC connector on boiler, Damaged wiring between NTC and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool completely before accessing internal parts.
- Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect and test. Sometimes transient sensor errors clear after a reset.
- Check descaling status: Heavy scale can cause overheating and sensor errors. If the machine allows, run a descaling cycle once the error clears.
- Access the boiler: Remove the top cover to locate the thermoblock or boiler assembly. The NTC sensor is usually clipped or screwed into the boiler with two small wires leading to the PCB.
- Inspect connections: Ensure the NTC plug is firmly seated on the PCB and at the boiler. Clean any corrosion with contact cleaner.
- Test the NTC: With a multimeter set to resistance, measure the NTC at room temperature. Compare to AEG specifications (typically 50–100 kΩ at 25°C). If open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
