Possible Causes

Drip tray not fully inserted, Dreg drawer (used coffee container) misaligned, Magnetic or microswitch sensor failure, Broken tray tab that actuates sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the machine before reaching into the tray area.

  • Remove and clean tray and dreg drawer: Take out the drip tray and used coffee container. Wash them with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
  • Check for obstructions: Inspect the tray slot for coffee grounds or debris that may prevent full insertion. Vacuum or wipe clean.
  • Inspect sensor area: Look for a small microswitch or magnetic sensor near the tray opening. Ensure no metal objects or magnets are interfering.
  • Reinsert firmly: Slide the tray and container back in until they click. Some Ariete models require a firm push to engage the sensor.
  • If E10 remains: The tray sensor or its wiring may be faulty. Sensor replacement requires opening the housing; contact a service center.
