Avanti espresso-style coffee maker steam wand does not produce steam or only emits water.

Safety first: Turn off and unplug the machine. Allow it to cool before removing the steam tip.

• Clean steam tip: Unscrew the tip and soak it in hot water, then clear holes with a pin.
• Purge wand: With the machine in steam mode (once reassembled and plugged in), open the steam valve to purge water until steam appears.
• Descale steam circuit: Run descaler through the boiler and operate the steam wand to dissolve internal scale.

If the boiler never reaches steam temperature or the wand remains weak after cleaning and descaling, the steam thermostat or control board may need replacement.
