Avanti Restricted Water Flow / Scale Buildup

Coffee maker brews extremely slowly or only drips, taking much longer than normal to fill the carafe.

Possible Causes

Mineral scale in heating element tubing, Clogged water inlet screen in reservoir, Blocked drip outlet in filter basket, Partially blocked pump (on pump-driven models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before descaling or disassembly.

  • Clean reservoir and inlet: Remove the water reservoir and rinse thoroughly. Clean any mesh screen at the bottom with a soft brush.
  • Descale the system: Fill the reservoir with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water. Run a brew cycle until halfway, then pause and let sit for 20–30 minutes. Resume the cycle, then run 2–3 full reservoirs of clean water to flush.
  • Clean filter basket outlet: Remove the filter basket and wash the outlet hole and any drip-stop mechanism. Coffee oils and grounds can clog this area.
  • Check for kinks (pump models): On Avanti units with internal pumps, inspect accessible hoses for kinks or pinches and straighten them.

If flow remains very slow after thorough descaling and cleaning, the internal tubing or heater passages may be heavily scaled and require professional cleaning or replacement.
