Possible Causes

Brew button switch failure, Control board input fault, Carafe not detected on warming plate, Lid or basket safety switch open

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before manipulating switches or removing covers.

  • Check carafe position: Ensure the carafe is fully seated on the warming plate. Some Avanti models have a carafe presence switch that prevents brewing if the carafe is missing.
  • Verify lid closure: Close the top lid firmly. A misaligned lid can leave the safety switch open and block brewing.
  • Try different modes: Attempt both regular and strong brew (if available). If one mode works and the other does not, the issue is likely in the control logic rather than hardware.
  • Inspect brew button (advanced): On models with mechanical buttons, remove the control panel and check that the button actuates the underlying switch. Replace the switch if it does not click or register.

If the machine consistently refuses to start brewing despite all safety interlocks being satisfied, the main control board may need replacement.
