Coffee tastes weak or watery even when using normal amounts of coffee.

Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning internal water outlets.

• Adjust coffee dose and grind: Use the recommended coffee-to-water ratio and a medium grind for drip, or appropriate grind for espresso.
• Descale the machine: Mineral buildup can affect temperature and flow. Run a full descaling cycle with vinegar or approved descaler, then flush with fresh water.
• Clean showerhead: On models with a removable showerhead or spray plate, remove and clean it to ensure even water distribution over the grounds.
• Preheat carafe and cups: Rinse the carafe and cups with hot water before brewing to reduce heat loss.

If coffee remains consistently weak despite proper technique and descaling, the heater may not be reaching proper brew temperature and could require replacement.
