Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before removing parts or accessing internal components. Allow the unit to cool completely if it was recently used.
- Check reservoir seating: Remove the water reservoir and reinsert it firmly. Many Avanti coffee makers use a magnetic or mechanical level sensor at the base; if the tank is not fully seated, the sensor will not detect water.
- Verify water level: Fill the reservoir at least to the minimum line. Some models will show E1 if the water is below the sensor threshold.
- Free the float: Look inside the reservoir for a small plastic float. If it is stuck due to scale or debris, clean the reservoir with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and move the float up and down until it moves freely.
- Clean sensor area: Wipe the base of the reservoir and the mating area on the coffee maker with a damp cloth to remove coffee residue or mineral buildup that can interfere with the sensor.
- Inspect wiring (advanced): With the unit unplugged, remove the bottom cover (if accessible) and check the small harness from the water level sensor to the main control board for loose or corroded connectors. Reseat any loose plugs.
If E1 persists after these steps, the internal water level sensor or control board may need replacement and professional service is recommended.
