Display shows E2 and the coffee maker will not heat or brew; sometimes accompanied by a brief click from inside the unit.

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before inspection. Do not attempt to measure live voltages unless you are trained and equipped.

• Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes to clear any transient error. Plug back in and test. If E2 returns immediately, continue.
• Check for obvious damage: Turn the unit over (unplugged) and remove the base cover if possible. Look for a small sensor (thermistor) clipped or bonded to the main heating element or warming plate.
• Inspect sensor connection: Ensure the thermistor leads are firmly connected to the wiring harness and that the harness is fully seated on the control board. Reseat any loose connectors.
• Check sensor placement: Confirm the thermistor is in contact with the metal surface of the heater or warming plate. If it has popped out of its clip, gently reposition it.
• Look for heat damage: Burnt insulation or melted plastic around the heater or sensor indicates overheating; in this case, do not operate the unit until a qualified technician replaces the damaged parts.

If E2 persists, the thermistor or main control board likely needs replacement. This repair involves mains wiring and should be performed by a qualified technician.
