Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before removing any control panel screws or covers. Avoid using sharp tools near wiring.
- Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in. Sometimes E6 is a transient communication error.
- Dry the panel: If the panel was recently cleaned or exposed to steam, wipe it dry and let the unit sit unplugged for several hours to allow moisture to evaporate.
- Inspect ribbon cable (advanced): Remove the control panel bezel (usually held by screws from the back or bottom). Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad/touch PCB to the main board. Gently disconnect and reconnect it to clean the contacts.
- Check for corrosion: Look for green or white corrosion on the keypad PCB or connectors. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush; heavy corrosion usually requires part replacement.
If E6 persists, the touch panel assembly or main control board is likely defective and should be replaced as a unit.
