Possible Causes

Heater and plastic parts curing, Residual oils in internal tubing, Dust on heating element

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure good ventilation when running initial cleaning cycles.

  • Initial cleaning cycles: Before brewing coffee, run 2–3 full reservoirs of plain water through the machine, discarding the water each time.
  • Optional vinegar rinse: Run one cycle with a mild vinegar solution (1:3 vinegar to water), then follow with 2–3 plain water cycles.
  • Ventilate: Operate the machine in a well-ventilated area until the smell dissipates.

If the plastic or chemical smell persists after several days of use and cleaning, discontinue use and contact Avanti support, as there may be a defective component.
