Possible Causes
Blown internal fuse on power input, failed power switch or on/off rocker, broken power cord, open thermal fuse in series with heater causing board to remain off on some models
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before any disassembly. Do not bypass safety devices like fuses or thermal cutoffs.
External checks:
- Verify the wall outlet with another appliance.
- Inspect the power cord for cuts, kinks, or burn marks.
- Ensure the power switch is firmly pressed to ON.
Internal fuse and switch:
- Remove the bottom cover to access the power input area.
- Locate any inline fuse or fuse holder near where the cord enters the unit. Test for continuity; replace with the same rating if blown.
- Test the on/off switch with a multimeter; it should show continuity when ON.
- Inspect the thermal fuse in series with the heater; on some designs, if this is open, the control board may not power correctly.
When to replace:
- Replace a damaged power cord or on/off switch with OEM or equivalent parts.
- Replace a blown thermal fuse only after confirming the cause of overheating (e.g., blocked ventilation or scaled heater).
Warning: Never bypass a fuse or thermal cutoff; doing so can create a serious fire hazard.
