Water or coffee leaks from around the top of the filter basket or spills over the sides.

Safety first: Unplug and allow hot surfaces to cool before cleaning.

Clean basket and drip-stop:

• Remove the filter basket and wash thoroughly, paying attention to the bottom outlet hole.
• Inspect and clean the drip-stop valve under the basket; ensure it moves freely.

Check coffee and filter:

• Use a medium grind coffee; very fine espresso grind can cause overflow.
• Do not exceed the recommended number of scoops for your carafe size.
• Ensure the paper filter (if used) is properly seated and not folded over the basket edge.

Carafe lid and outlet:

• Clean the carafe lid and outlet channel; blockages here can slow flow and cause backup.

When to replace:

• If the drip-stop mechanism is damaged or does not seal/open correctly, replace the drip-stop assembly or filter basket.
