Possible Causes
Clogged filter basket outlet, incorrect grind size (too fine), too much coffee or filter mis-seated, stuck drip-stop valve, blocked carafe lid outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and allow hot surfaces to cool before cleaning.
Clean basket and drip-stop:
- Remove the filter basket and wash thoroughly, paying attention to the bottom outlet hole.
- Inspect and clean the drip-stop valve under the basket; ensure it moves freely.
Check coffee and filter:
- Use a medium grind coffee; very fine espresso grind can cause overflow.
- Do not exceed the recommended number of scoops for your carafe size.
- Ensure the paper filter (if used) is properly seated and not folded over the basket edge.
Carafe lid and outlet:
- Clean the carafe lid and outlet channel; blockages here can slow flow and cause backup.
When to replace:
- If the drip-stop mechanism is damaged or does not seal/open correctly, replace the drip-stop assembly or filter basket.
