Bodum
Under-Extraction Due to Low Temperature or Fast Flow
Bodum coffee maker produces very weak coffee even when using the same amount of grounds as before.

Possible Causes
Thermostat stuck at low temperature, Scale on heater reducing heat transfer, Shower head spraying unevenly, Too coarse grind setting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool the unit before internal work.
Steps to try:
- Adjust grind and dose: Use a slightly finer grind (but not espresso-fine) and ensure you are using the recommended coffee-to-water ratio (typically 1–2 tablespoons per 180 ml).
- Descale: Run a full descaling cycle with a 1:1 vinegar and water solution, followed by multiple rinse cycles. Scale can lower brew temperature.
- Clean shower head: Remove and clean the shower head to ensure even water distribution over the grounds.
- Preheat carafe: Rinse the carafe with hot water before brewing to reduce heat loss.
If coffee remains weak and lukewarm, the thermostat or heater may not be reaching proper brew temperature and may require replacement.
