Possible Causes
Moisture under keypad overlay, Coffee residue on button contacts, Cracked keypad membrane, Loose keypad ribbon cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before working on the control panel.
Steps to try:
- Surface cleaning: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not allow liquid to seep around the buttons.
- Drying time: If the panel was recently exposed to water, leave the unit unplugged for 24 hours to allow moisture to evaporate.
- Internal cleaning (advanced): Remove the front or top cover to access the keypad PCB. Clean the button contact areas with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free swab.
- Check ribbon cable: Reseat the keypad ribbon cable on the control board to ensure a solid connection.
If the membrane itself is cracked or delaminated, the keypad assembly will need replacement.
