Possible Causes

Empty bean hopper, Blocked bean chute, Worn grinder burrs, Misaligned hopper sensor magnet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before working on the grinder. Avoid contact with sharp burr edges.

Steps to try:

  • Fill hopper: Ensure there are enough beans in the hopper to cover the intake. Some sensors detect low level and trigger an error.
  • Clear bean path: Remove the hopper if it is removable. Check the opening at the bottom for stuck beans or foreign objects. Clean with a dry brush.
  • Inspect burrs: If accessible, remove the upper burr carrier and brush away compacted coffee oils and fines. Do not wash steel burrs with water unless the manual explicitly allows it.
  • Check hopper alignment: Some models use a magnet or tab on the hopper to signal correct installation. Make sure the hopper is rotated to the lock position and that any magnet or tab is intact.

If E8 persists: The burr set may be excessively worn or the hopper sensor may have failed. Replacement of these parts is an advanced repair.
