Possible Causes
Defective NTC temperature sensor, Loose NTC wiring connection, Overheated thermoblock due to scale, Failed control board temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow at least 30 minutes for internal components to cool before opening any covers.
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then reconnect and test. Sometimes transient sensor errors clear after a reset.
- Descale the machine: Heavy scale on the thermoblock can cause localized overheating and sensor errors. Run the full descaling program with Bosch-approved descaler, following the user manual.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the built-in unit (if applicable) has proper ventilation clearances as specified by Bosch. Overheating due to poor airflow can trigger E02.
- Inspect wiring (advanced users): With the unit unplugged and covers removed, visually inspect the NTC sensor leads on the thermoblock/boiler for loose or broken wires and burnt connectors. Reseat any loose plugs.
- If E02 remains: The NTC sensor or the main control board may be defective. Replacing the NTC requires access to the thermoblock assembly; if unsure, contact Bosch service.
