Possible Causes
Blocked grinder with oily beans, Foreign object in grinder, Defective grinder motor, Faulty grinder position sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before accessing the bean hopper or grinder. Never insert fingers or tools into the grinder while powered.
- Check beans: Open the bean hopper and remove any very oily or caramelized beans. Avoid flavored or sugar-coated beans that can gum up the grinder.
- Empty and vacuum hopper: Remove all beans and use a small vacuum nozzle to remove loose grounds from the hopper and visible grinder inlet.
- Adjust grind setting: Set the grinder to a slightly coarser setting and test again. Very fine settings can overload the grinder, especially with dark oily beans.
- Listen for grinder operation: During a brew attempt, listen for the grinder. If it hums but does not turn, it may be jammed. If it is silent, the motor or control board output may have failed.
- If jam persists: Internal grinder disassembly on Bosch built-in units is complex and involves removing the top cover and control panel. If you suspect a foreign object or motor failure, contact Bosch service.
