Possible Causes

Faulty brew drive position sensor, Misaligned brew unit, Broken cam or gear, Wiring issue to position sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the machine before removing the brew unit or side panels.

  • Remove and reinstall brew unit: Take out the brew unit, rinse and dry it, then reinstall making sure it is fully locked in place.
  • Check for obstructions: Look inside the brew chamber area for broken plastic pieces, coffee pucks, or foreign objects that could block the drive mechanism.
  • Power cycle: Plug the machine back in and allow it to run its self-test. Listen for the brew drive moving to its home position.
  • If E12 returns: The position sensor (often a microswitch or Hall sensor) or the drive mechanism may be faulty. Accessing these parts requires disassembly of the side and rear panels; professional service is recommended.
