Possible Causes

Carafe not seated on warming plate, Filter basket not fully closed, Faulty lid or basket switch, Defective brew button or keypad

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before manipulating mechanical parts.

  • Check carafe position: Ensure the Braun glass carafe is fully seated on the warming plate; some models have a carafe presence switch.
  • Close filter basket: Open and firmly close the filter basket or swing‑out arm until it clicks.
  • Inspect drip stop: Make sure the drip stop lever moves freely and is not stuck in the closed position.
  • Try different modes: Attempt a manual brew instead of a programmed one to rule out timer settings.
  • Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in and test the brew button again.

If the machine still will not start and no error is shown, the internal interlock switch or keypad may need replacement.
