Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit immediately if you see water leaking. Dry any spilled water around the power cord and outlet.
E04 usually means the machine detected an internal overflow or leak.
- Empty and dry: Remove the carafe and drip tray (if present). Empty any standing water and dry the area thoroughly.
- Check filter basket and drip stop: Remove the Braun filter basket and inspect the drip stop valve at the bottom. Clean away coffee grounds and rinse the valve so it moves freely.
- Do not overfill: Refill the reservoir only to the MAX line. Overfilling can cause internal overflow.
- Test with plain water: Reassemble and run a brew cycle with water only while observing the machine. If water leaks from the base again, stop immediately.
Persistent E04 or visible leaks indicate a damaged internal hose, seal, or tank connection. Internal leak repairs require opening the housing and should be performed by a qualified technician.
