Possible Causes
Dirty group head, Clogged shower screen, Coffee oil buildup in 3-way valve, Lack of regular backflushing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the machine to cool before disassembling the group head.
Cleaning cycle:
- Insert the cleaning disc (blind filter) into the portafilter and add a Breville cleaning tablet.
- Lock the portafilter into the group head.
- Start the CLEAN ME cycle according to your model's instructions. The machine will automatically pulse water through the 3-way valve.
- After the cycle completes, remove the portafilter, rinse, and run a few blank shots to flush residue.
Manual cleaning:
- Remove the shower screen and dispersion plate. Soak them in hot water with espresso cleaner, then scrub with a soft brush.
- Wipe the group head gasket and surrounding area to remove coffee oils.
Resolution: The CLEAN ME indicator should reset after the cleaning cycle. If flow remains restricted, repeat the process or inspect for scale buildup requiring descaling.
