Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine before removing any covers or hoses.
Initial checks:
- Check water tank: Ensure the tank is fully seated, filled, and the float or low-water sensor is not stuck.
- Prime the system: Remove and reseat the water tank several times to purge air. Run a hot water cycle (if available) to push air through the system.
- Descale: Mineral buildup can jam the flow meter. Run a full descale cycle with Breville descaler.
Flow meter inspection (advanced):
- Remove the top or rear cover to access the flow meter (usually a small round plastic device in the inlet line from the tank).
- Check for kinks in silicone hoses leading to and from the flow meter.
- Disconnect hoses (have towels ready) and inspect for debris or scale. Rinse the flow meter with warm water; gently spin the internal turbine with a toothpick if visible.
- Reseat the electrical connector to the flow meter on the main PCB.
Resolution: If cleaning and descaling do not clear ER03, replace the flow meter assembly. If the new flow meter does not resolve the error, the control board input circuit may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
