How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not force the portafilter off under pressure. Stop the pump and wait a few seconds.
User steps:
- Use a coarser grind and ensure you are not overdosing the basket.
- Clean or replace the filter basket if its holes are blocked.
- Remove and clean the shower screen and dispersion plate.
Advanced:
- Backflush with a blind filter and cleaning tablet to clear the 3-way valve and OPV path.
- If pressure remains excessive, inspect and clean the OPV; replace if stuck closed.
Resolution: Adjust grind/dose and clean the brew path. Replace the OPV if it fails to relieve excess pressure.
