Possible Causes
Stagnant water in tank, Infrequent cleaning, Dirty carafe and funnel, Mold in reservoir or lid
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the brewer before cleaning. Avoid inhaling mold spores; clean in a well-ventilated area.
Steps:
- 1. Empty and rinse: Drain or flush the internal tank with fresh water if possible. Empty and wash the carafe and funnel.
- 2. Clean with mild detergent: Wash all removable parts with hot, soapy water. Scrub any visible mold or residue.
- 3. Sanitize: Run a brew cycle with a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water. Let it sit in the tank for 15–20 minutes, then flush with several tanks of fresh water.
- 4. Dry between uses: Leave the lid or reservoir cap slightly open when not in use to allow ventilation and reduce moisture buildup.
