Possible Causes
Heavy mineral scale on tank heater, Scale buildup on tank walls, Low water level contacting heater surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug and allow the brewer to cool before descaling. Hot water and steam can cause burns.
Steps:
- 1. Descale the brewer: Run a full descaling procedure using a Bunn-approved descaler. Allow the solution to sit in the tank to dissolve scale on the heater and walls.
- 2. Rinse thoroughly: After descaling, flush the tank with multiple full volumes of fresh water to remove any remaining solution.
- 3. Check water level: Ensure the internal tank is properly filled and that the water level sensor or probe is functioning so the heater is always submerged.
- 4. Repeat if necessary: In very hard water areas, multiple descaling cycles may be needed to quiet the noise.
Note: Persistent loud boiling after descaling may indicate a damaged heater or incorrect wattage replacement.
