Possible Causes
Failed flow meter, Clogged flow meter from scale, Damaged flow meter wiring harness, Faulty control board flow input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the brewer and shut off water supply before opening the water path.
Steps:
- 1. Identify flow meter: On Bunn brewers with programmable volumes (e.g., Infusion, ICB, some home digital models), the flow meter is typically a small plastic device in-line with the cold water inlet, with two or three wires.
- 2. Inspect for leaks and kinks: Check tubing to and from the flow meter for kinks, pinches, or leaks that could affect flow.
- 3. Clean or replace: Remove the flow meter and inspect for mineral buildup or debris. Rinse with warm water and, if needed, soak in a descaling solution. Do not use sharp tools inside the meter. If the impeller is seized or damaged, replace the flow meter.
- 4. Check wiring: Verify the harness from the flow meter to the control board is intact and firmly connected. Look for broken wires at the strain relief points.
- 5. Test signal (advanced): With the unit powered and water supply on, a technician can monitor the flow meter output with a meter or scope while water flows. Lack of pulses indicates a failed meter or wiring.
Note: After service, run a few test brews to confirm accurate volume and that E05 does not reappear.
