Possible Causes

Stuck fill solenoid valve, Faulty water level probe reading, Control board logic fault, Restricted outlet causing backflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the brewer and shut off water supply. Be prepared for hot water spillage if the tank is overfilled.

Steps:

  • 1. Check for visible overflow: Inspect the brew funnel area, drip tray, and internal chassis for signs of water overflow. Mop up any standing water.
  • 2. Test fill solenoid: With water supply off and unit unplugged, disconnect the outlet tubing from the fill solenoid. Turn water on briefly (with solenoid disconnected from power) to ensure no water passes. If water flows with no power, the valve is stuck open and must be replaced.
  • 3. Inspect level probe: Clean the water level probe on the tank as mineral buildup can cause false readings. Ensure the probe wire is intact and properly grounded per Bunn specs.
  • 4. Verify drain path: On models with overflow or drain lines, ensure they are not kinked or blocked, which can cause water to back up into the tank area.
  • 5. Reset and test: After correcting issues, restore water and power. Allow the unit to refill and heat. Run a test brew and monitor for proper fill and no overflow.

Warning: Do not operate the brewer if water is leaking into electrical areas; this is a shock hazard.
