Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning hot coffee spills.

Steps:

• Check carafe position: Ensure the carafe is centered and fully pushed back under the filter basket so the drip stop valve opens properly.
• Clean drip stop: Remove the filter basket and rinse the drip stop valve thoroughly. Press it several times under running water to clear trapped grounds.
• Adjust coffee amount and grind: Use the amount of coffee recommended in the Capresso manual and avoid very fine espresso grinds in drip machines.
• Inspect basket and lid: Look for cracks or warping in the filter basket or lid that could prevent a proper seal. Replace if damaged.
• Test with water only: Run a brew cycle with just water to confirm that the overflow is resolved.
