Possible Causes
Grinding very oily or dark beans causing clogging, Excessive grind setting (too fine) overloading motor, Blocked grinder chute, Overheated grinder motor thermal protector tripped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool for at least 20–30 minutes before further use.
Steps:
- Let the grinder cool: Overheat protection often resets automatically after the motor cools down.
- Clean grinder path: Empty the hopper, remove the upper burr (if applicable), and thoroughly clean the burrs and chute with a brush. Avoid water on metal burrs unless the manual explicitly allows it.
- Adjust grind setting: Set the grind to a slightly coarser setting to reduce load on the motor.
- Use appropriate beans: Avoid extremely oily beans, which can gum up the burrs. Mix with drier beans or switch to a less oily roast.
- Test again: After cleaning and cooling, plug in and run a short grind cycle. If E8 returns quickly, the motor or thermal protector may be failing and should be replaced.
