Coffee maker emits a plastic or chemical smell during first uses.

Possible Causes

Residue from manufacturing on internal components, Dust or packaging material in warming plate area, Plastic parts heating for first time

Safety first: Ensure good ventilation during initial uses.

Steps:

Before first use, wash all removable parts (carafe, filter basket, reservoir) with warm soapy water and rinse well.
Run 2–3 full brew cycles with plain water (no coffee) and discard the water.
The odor should diminish after several uses. If the smell is strong, acrid, or accompanied by smoke, unplug immediately and discontinue use.
