Safety first: Ensure good ventilation during initial uses.

Steps:

  • Before first use, wash all removable parts (carafe, filter basket, reservoir) with warm soapy water and rinse well.
  • Run 2–3 full brew cycles with plain water (no coffee) and discard the water.
  • The odor should diminish after several uses. If the smell is strong, acrid, or accompanied by smoke, unplug immediately and discontinue use.
