Safety first: Unplug the unit and let it cool if hot coffee has spilled.

Steps:

• Ensure the carafe is pushed fully back under the filter basket so the lid properly engages the drip-stop.
• Use the correct amount of coffee and avoid overfilling the filter basket; follow the max fill line.
• Use a medium grind; very fine espresso grind can cause overflow.
• Inspect and clean the gasket around the filter basket. Replace if cracked or hardened.
