Possible Causes

Severe scale buildup in heating element, Flow restriction detected by internal sensor, Over-temperature condition due to scale insulation, Firmware lockout based on brew count

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug and cool the unit before filling with cleaning solution.

  • Perform a deep descale: Fill the reservoir with a 1:1 vinegar-water solution. Start the clean cycle as instructed in the manual. If the unit stops early, restart the clean cycle until the reservoir is empty.
  • Extended soak: For heavily scaled units, fill with vinegar solution and run until you hear water start to flow, then stop the cycle and let the machine sit for 30–45 minutes before resuming.
  • Flush thoroughly: After cleaning, run 3–4 full reservoirs of fresh water to flush out vinegar and loosened mineral deposits.
  • Check water hardness: If you have very hard water, consider using filtered or softened water to prevent future lockouts.
  • If lockout remains: If the machine still refuses to brew normally, the flow sensor or temperature sensor may be malfunctioning and falsely triggering the clean lockout. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
