Possible Causes
Heavy mineral scale in boiler and internal tubing, Flow sensor detecting reduced flow, User did not complete full cleaning cycle, Faulty clean indicator circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before handling. Do not open the base or boiler while hot.
- Run the official clean cycle: Fill the reservoir with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water. Press and hold the CLEAN button (or follow your model’s manual) to start the cleaning cycle. Allow it to run fully without interruption.
- Soak and descale thoroughly: If the light persists, repeat the cleaning cycle, allowing the machine to sit with vinegar solution inside for 20–30 minutes before completing the cycle.
- Rinse cycles: Run at least 2–3 full reservoirs of fresh water through the machine to remove vinegar and any loosened scale.
- Reset indicator: On some models, you must press and hold the CLEAN button for 3–5 seconds after descaling to reset the light. Refer to your specific Cuisinart manual.
- Persistent light: If the light will not clear even after multiple descale cycles and resets, the control board’s clean indicator circuit may be faulty. At this point, internal electronic repair or replacement is required.
