How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Use the coffee maker in a well-ventilated area during initial break-in.

  • Initial cleaning cycles: Before brewing coffee, run 2–3 full reservoirs of plain water through the machine.
  • Optional vinegar rinse: Run a cycle with a 1:3 vinegar-water solution, then flush with 2–3 reservoirs of fresh water.
  • Do not drink initial brews: Discard the first few pots if they have a strong plastic taste or smell.
  • Persistent odor: If the smell persists after multiple cleaning cycles, contact Cuisinart support; there may be a defective component.
