Under-Extraction / Incorrect Coffee Dose
Coffee is weak or watery despite normal volume
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Grind too coarse, Low coffee strength setting, Worn grinder burrs, Brew group not compressing puck properly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the machine before adjusting internal components; grinder adjustment can be done with power ON only as specified.
- Increase strength: Raise the coffee strength setting on the control panel.
- Adjust grind finer: While the grinder is running during a coffee cycle, turn the grind adjustment knob one step finer. Do not adjust when grinder is stopped.
- Use fresh beans: Replace old or stale beans with fresh, high-quality espresso beans.
- Clean brew group: Remove and rinse the brew group to ensure it can compress the coffee puck correctly.
- If still weak: Grinder burrs may be worn and require replacement by a technician.
