Possible Causes
Brew unit jammed by coffee residue, Misaligned brew group gears, Faulty brew group motor, Brew group position sensor failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF, unplug the machine, and allow it to cool. Never force the brew group with power applied.
- Remove brew group: Open the service door and carefully remove the infuser/brew group following the user manual. If it will not release, gently move the locking lever while pulling straight out—do not twist.
- Clean thoroughly: Rinse the brew group under lukewarm water. Remove loose coffee grounds from the filter screens, piston, and channels. Do not use soap or detergents.
- Lubricate: Lightly lubricate the brew group side rails and moving joints with food-grade silicone grease approved for coffee machines.
- Clean interior: Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove coffee grounds from the brew group compartment and drive gear area.
- Reinstall and reset: Reinsert the brew group until it clicks. Close the door, plug in the machine, and turn it ON. The machine should cycle the brew group to home position.
- If A4 remains: The brew group motor, gear train, or position sensor may be defective. Internal disassembly is complex; contact an authorized De'Longhi service center.
